Nantucket basket weaver and wood worker

Since 2005, I have been weaving baskets and am self-taught through studying instructional books. To date, I have completed over 300 Nantucket baskets of different sizes and shapes. In 2015, I began woodturning and incorporated this skill into basket making by producing rims, lids, and bases. At present, I construct all my own molds for my Nantucket baskets and have developed various molds and basket shapes.

My baskets follow the traditional lighthouse basket style, woven with cane and reed on a mold, resulting in a solid and rigid structure. By modifying weaving patterns and introducing color to the staves or weavers, each basket is distinct and reflects a modern interpretation of classic techniques.

In 2017, I started teaching Nantucket basket making privately, expanding to classes at Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen locations in 2019. I am also listed as an instructor on the D.E.L.S Nantucket Basket Supplies Headquarter website.
